Easter Tidings

Hi Ladies,

I know it’s been a loooooong time since I’ve last posted.  Christmas has come and gone, New years, Valentines Day, and now we are stumbling upon Easter weekend.  I actually have had sporadic internet availability which makes writing and posting a little difficult, much more difficult than I’ve wanted.  We’ve had a lot going on.  It seems that all year long UPS is busy and my husband comes home late most of the time regardless of peak season hours or not.  It’s just hard.  This weekend he is home and we are getting over colds.  But the windows are open, the sun is shining, the flowers are blooming and my mind goes to what kind of projects I can get my hands on.  My next goal is the front porch.  Two years ago I wanted to paint the porch, but we quickly realized painting would be a bad idea because we found out I was pregnant with my fourth baby.  So, wanting to avoid the fumes, I had my husband, the UPSer paint it for me.  Ladies, he is NOT a painter.  The porch is painted but there are also places on the siding where paint splattered and I need to do it over.  My mind keeps envisioning candles, comfortable outdoor seating, hanging lanterns…making it a nice place to gather and relax with a glass of wine…free of paint splatters!  I can honestly say, he is good with fixing broken things or building me tables, but he is not helpful with any of the home design or painting.  Can any of you relate?

So I am wishing all of you a Happy Easter!  Let us remember that despite all our faults and imperfections, we have a God who came, took all the blame of all our faults and imperfections upon Himself to give us freedom.  He is Risen!  Love to you all.

I hope your porch turns out great! It is frustrating to be married to a UPSer. I try to be positive and think about everything that I am getting done while he works every holiday and weekend but I’m lonely. His days are Friday, Saturday, Sunday Monday. Horrible schedule which he hates and complains about all the time. But let’s get your porch looking great!. You can remove recent paint splatters without messing up existing paint with mineral spirits. Put some on a rag and try it. If that doesn’t work, try paint thinner in a spot that isn’t noticeable. Take a picture of your porch and let’s see what suggestions everyone has to offer. Sounds like fun.

I just discovered your blog and wanted to get your take on the recent shooting at a ups facility. Apparently it was a driver who had filed grievances about excessive overtime. I am a wife of a hardworking ups man and the amount of hours they work is so concerning to me. I fear this type of tragedy will happen more often if nothing is changed. I was thinking about starting a petition but I’m not sure where to being. I was hoping u could give some advice. Sometimes I feel helpless just being the wife he comes home to vent to. I’d like to do more.

    Thanks in advance
